However, another drink that is very good for your liver health is coffee, which has several benefits, both as a rich source of antioxidants and the unique properties that make it a common morning drink for millions of people.
Coffee has been associated with reducing the risk and in some cases reducing the effects of common liver conditions, such as cirrhosis and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD or hepatic steatosis).
It also contains several powerful antioxidants, including polyphenols and hydrocinnamic acids, which help reduce the load on your liver and help protect against the signs of ageing caused by free radicals. A liver antioxidant is a powerful weapon to help the human body.
The biggest study on the specific effects of coffee on the liver, the British Liver Trust’s report on coffee consumption and the liver, found that regularly drinking coffee reduces the risk of liver fibrosis (liver scarring).
As well as this, whilst there are other health benefits to avoiding milk and sugar with your coffee, the same benefits have been found whether the coffee is instant, filtered or espresso, although Decaf coffee is not believed to have the same benefits.
